DEAR FRIENDS

Unhoused Blue Christmas Service

Dear Friends,

This year we have the brutal privilege of joining with St. Paul’s UMC, the Toledo Lucas County Homelessness Board, Cherry Street Mission, and 1Matters in the Unhoused Blue Christmas Service on Sunday, December 21. This service will be held at St. Paul’s UMC at 3:30pm, and while it is not the first time it has been held, it is the first we have been invited to participate in it. Over the past few years, Every month, Trinity helps with food insecurity through our partnership with Food for Thought for the mobile food pantry and providing lunch for Toledo Street News vendors. For nearly the past two years, we have been taking a more direct approach in walking alongside our marginalized and unhoused siblings with Breakfast at Trinity.

A few weeks ago, the news reported the death of Mr. Richard Kwapich who was unhoused and passed away outside due to the cold weather. This is a service where we will honor him, and the lives of our other siblings who have passed due to the unjust world and circumstances that have been created around us. If like me you are frustrated at the state of things, and at times feel helpless on what to do, this service will be a time and space to come and share in it.

I look forward to seeing some of you there.

Grace and peace,
George Benson (he/him)

POINSETTIA ORDERS

We will be filling our sanctuary with stunning red poinsettias again this Christmas Eve for all three worship services. Honor a loved one and help decorate all at once. The plants are $12 each. Two options - fill out the form in this link: Poinsettia Order Form or complete one at church on Sunday morning. Forms and envelopes and drop box all at the back of the sanctuary in the Coffee Hour area. You can also pay for them online by selecting Christmas Poinsettias from drop down menu. And if you need help, you can always reach out to Heather Meyer! DEADLINE: FRIDAY, DECEMBER 19

MITTEN TREE

Before you leave for church each week

Remember the words we heard Jesus speak

Breakfast at Trinity feeds the flocks

Now let’s help with gloves and socks.

Our Living Room tree is empty and bare

Why don’t we fill it with things we can share?

Like hats and scarves to keep out the cold

So breakfast friends have warmth to hold.

Bring in your new and clean gently worn

Things that bring warmth with a tree we adorn

Let’s keep the tree up as long as we dare

With weekly donations to show that we care.

Just one small way to spread some cheer

For those whose days may not be so dear.

It’s just a hat, a scarf, a glove

But mostly it’s about sharing love.

DECORATING FOR CHRISTMAS

Sunday, Dec. 21 - Following December 21st worship service, come help us put the finishing touches on our Christmas decor and prepare the sanctuary for our joyful Christmas Eve celebrations!

WINTER WEATHER

We thought it was worth a refresher on how Trinity handles snow emergencies. (You can also find this on our website under the "About Us" Tab)

On Sundays: If Lucas County is under a Level 2 or 3 Snow Emergency at 10:00pm on Saturday evening, all of our Sunday morning activities will be cancelled. (Worship, Breakfast at Trinity, Formation or other Meetings)  So even if the snow emergency is downgraded later on, everything scheduled on a typical Sunday morning will remain cancelled.  If a Level 2 or 3 is declared after 10:00pm on Saturday evening, be safe and exercise caution. The Rector reserves the right to cancel worship if the weather becomes dangerous. News of our cancellations will be posted on Trinity's social media and transmitted to the local TV stations. A Level 3 snow emergency always means you should rest safely in God's love at home.

On Weekdays: If Lucas County is under a Level 2 or 3 Snow Emergency as of 8:00am, the church is closed, and all activities will be cancelled. Noon Day AA makes their decision independently of Trinity and social media updates will be posted from them.

ALL SAINTS PARISH - NEW INITIATIVE

Starting in January, our siblings at All Saints Episcopal will be hosting a commodities pantry that will run from 11:30a - 1pm the first and second Sunday of the month. Trinity is very excited to be supporting this pantry, so please drop of toilet paper, paper towels, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, and feminine hygiene materials at the donation station by the guestbook podium. If you have any questions, please contact George Benson at george@trinitytoledo.org

CENTERING PRAYER WORKSHOP

Centering Prayer is a contemplative practice that restores and grounds us in ways that most of us deeply need in our overly busy, anxious world. The practice is a spiritual antidote that opens us to the calm and revitalization of resting in God. Like all meditative practices, it affects us not only during the practice, but in our daily lives, leading to personal transformation. Join St. Michael’s in the Hills of Ottawa Hills for a practical introductory workshop on Saturday, January 10,2026 from 3-4:30 p.m. The workshop will be led by John Fousek and Pat Mills, instructors trained through Contemplative Outreach, Ltd., the organization founded by Father Thomas Keating, a principal developers of Centering Prayer. To register: e-mail Kim at St. Michael’s office@lovelearnserve.com or call: (419) 531-1616

TRINITY'S PRAYER LIST

Trinity continues to have an active prayer list. If you’d like prayers for yourself or for someone you know, you can request them by contacting the Trinity office (trinity@trinitytoledo.org or 419-243-1231). All prayer requests are shared only with a small intercessory prayer group who, along with parish clergy, offer recurring prayers for each request. When a request is received, it remains on the prayer list for four weeks before it’s taken off. Requests can always be renewed or submitted again; having an “expiration date” simply prevents the list from overflowing with prayer requests that are out of date.

TRINITY@HOME LIVE-STREAM

Trinity@Home is now a live-stream of Trinity’s 10:00 am in-person service with an interactive chat.
