DEAR FRIENDS

The New Angles You See

Dear Friends,

On Sunday, if you were in church, you heard me talk a bit about my experience last week in learning more about Toledo through Leadership Toledo’s Focus 419 program – a three-day deep dive into the history, resources, and future of Toledo and our wider region.

This week, our parish staff took a little field trip across the Maumee River to tour the National Museum of the Great Lakes – an amazing resource, right here in our back yard! These waters that we so often take for granted are an integral part of what has shaped this region we love.

It’s important for all of us to take some time every now and then to shift our perspectives from what we see in our regular, day-to-day lives.

As you make your way through summer – if you have a chance to get away or to take a break from your regular schedule, think about how that shifting perspective impacts your relationship with God. Are there things you can do that can help you to see the world in a broader way? Are there ways that you can see things and people and perspectives that had eluded you before?

One of the things that I believe to be true about God, is that God – in seeing and understanding all things and all people – can best be understood through the efforts we make at broadening our own perspectives. We can never reach the breadth of perspective that God has, but in trying, we can move closer.

Of course, we can do this anytime during the year. We’re not limited to summer, or to vacations. But those can be times for us to intentionally refocus ourselves. When you have such times in your own life – whenever they might be – try to imagine how seeing something new in the world helps you see the world a little more like God sees it. The newness you encounter – the new angles you see – puts you a tiny bit closer to understanding God’s perspective; God, through whom all things are always being made new.

Blessings,
Jon+

PRIDE MEETINGS FOR JULY

PRIDE is just around the corner, and there's still plenty of time to get involved! Join the Pride Committee as we put the finishing touches on our incredible weekend of pride celebration. Want to help, but not ready for committee commitment? Sign up for a role during Coffee Hour right after church under the balloon arch in the sanctuary!

A PLAZA WITH A VIEW!

Round up your friends, an appetizer or dessert to share and come enjoy a beautiful evening on Trinity's Plaza. Doors will open at 7pm and fireworks begin at 10pm. If you park in the Four SeaGate parking garage, of course we will validate your parking ticket. There is a DIRECT ELEVATOR FROM THE PARKING GARAGE to our Plaza and we encourage you to utilize it that evening for ease. The stairwell/elevator up one level to our Plaza is on the same parking garage floor as the entrance to Trinity. Of course, we will have the door into our building open for you as well. Look for wayfinding signage with Heather Meyer's cell phone number just in case. Bring card games, board games or just come relax. We can't wait to host you!

TRINITY PRIDE T-SHIRTS

Friends, it is that time of the year where we order t-shirts for Pride! This year's design is on a plain, white t-shirt.  The price for the shirt, no matter the size, is $12. On the evening of July 31, we will have a tie-dying station on our Plaza during our Big Love: Music and Activism event. We will have a Pride Committee member hanging out next to the Coffee Hour table writing down orders on Sunday mornings. Order deadline: July 6  Questions? Email our Director of Community Engagement at george@trinitytoledo.org

His most heartfelt and personal tale yet, My Friends is a stunning testament to the transformative, timeless power of art and friendship." ~ goodreads

Book Club will be taking a breather in June and July but that doesn't mean you can't be reading. Get this one on your summer reading list, and add August 24 at 6:30pm to your calendar. Happy reading!

TRINITY'S PRAYER LIST

Trinity continues to have an active prayer list. If you’d like prayers for yourself or for someone you know, you can request them by contacting the Trinity office (trinity@trinitytoledo.org or 419-243-1231). All prayer requests are shared only with a small intercessory prayer group who, along with parish clergy, offer recurring prayers for each request. When a request is received, it remains on the prayer list for four weeks before it’s taken off. Requests can always be renewed or submitted again; having an “expiration date” simply prevents the list from overflowing with prayer requests that are out of date.

TRINITY@HOME LIVE-STREAM

Trinity@Home is now a live-stream of Trinity’s 10:00 am in-person service with an interactive chat.
