Hugh Grefe - A Chorus of Generosity

DEAR FRIENDS

Chief Ghostbuster

Dear friends,

Some of you may only know me in the very important role of Director of Community Engagement here at Trinity. Yet there is one position I hold almost in as much regard as my day to day offers, and that is as Chief Ghostbuster. Some of you may have seen me in that official capacity last year at our first annual Spooktacular, which I am happy to announce is back! On October 23rd, at 6:30pm Trinity will be opening our doors to welcome anyone and everyone for a spooky good time.

The evening will begin with treats, and maybe a trick through our cloister, ending in the sanctuary where snacks and crafts will be available for the whole family. Finally, our incredible Trinity choir will be preforming seasonally appropriate songs, with a special guest on our organ in the loft. Is it the Phantom of the Opera, or a kid named Noah? You’ll have to come and find out for yourself!

This was such a fun time last year, and we look forward to you, your family, and friends joining us again. If you have any questions, you can reach out to a member of our Parish Life team, or the Chief Joy Officer, Chelsie Cree.

Grace and peace,
George Benson

MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR PETER MORAIS

October 11 at 10am

Peter Morais, a friend of Trinity, passed away at the age of 70 in the early morning hours of August 18. He was under hospice care at Addison Heights Health and Rehabilitation Center in Maumee Ohio. Having found his way to Trinity in the fall of 2023, Peter was a familiar presence during and after service, at Breakfast at Trinity, and working on the plaza. He was a quiet and gentile soul that will be missed.

On October 11th at 10am in the St. Mark’s Chapel, we will be hosting a celebration of life for Peter, and for anyone who may want to come and pay their respects or share a story. We take comfort knowing Peter’s pain is gone, and that he is at peace.

SPELLING BEE - OCTOBER 16

We need two final worker bees to complete Trinity's two spelling teams. The Read for Literacy Corporate and Community Spelling Bee takes place Thursday, October 16 at 11:30am. Lunch is provided and no cost to you. All registration fees have been covered. Reach out to Heather Meyer to sign up for a spirited competition! Heather@trinitytoledo.org

CHOIR NEWS

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT IS ENGAGING!

Hey friends, last year Trinity’s breakfast crew made and delivered 300 people eggs at Tent City, the longest running unhoused outreach in Toledo history. We are back at it again this year and are asking for help. If you are interested in assisting us, we will need help for a few hours on the morning of 10/18 from 5am - 7:30am. Our cooks will arrive on Saturday morning at 4am to start cooking away, and at 5am we will be ready to package up individual meals for everyone, then transport them to the Lucas County Metropolitan Housing Authority grounds a block north of Trinity on Jackson. The reason why Trinity is asked to provide the biggest meal of the weekend, is because of our reputation of providing quality food, and serving with dignity. If you are interested in helping/attending, please email Kimberly Kefalas-Siu (kkefalas@gmail.com)

Grace and peace, George Benson (he/him)

TRINITY'S CELEBRATION OF NEW MINISTRY

THE CROSS AND THE LYNCHING TREE

TRINITY'S PRAYER LIST

Trinity continues to have an active prayer list. If you’d like prayers for yourself or for someone you know, you can request them by contacting the Trinity office (trinity@trinitytoledo.org or 419-243-1231). All prayer requests are shared only with a small intercessory prayer group who, along with parish clergy, offer recurring prayers for each request. When a request is received, it remains on the prayer list for four weeks before it’s taken off. Requests can always be renewed or submitted again; having an “expiration date” simply prevents the list from overflowing with prayer requests that are out of date.

TRINITY@HOME LIVE-STREAM

Trinity@Home is now a live-stream of Trinity’s 10:00 am in-person service with an interactive chat.
