DEAR FRIENDS

Safety Sunday

Dear Friends,

This Sunday at Trinity is “Safety Sunday”! This is a movement that has been in the works in both the Vestry and the Property Committee for several months now.

Safety has always been a significant concern at Trinity. We spend a lot of time talking about making sure this is a spiritually safe place, where people can heal from and grow after experiences of spiritual harm. And the safety of our children is always a critical concern. Every member of the staff and leadership of the parish, as well as anyone who has regular access to children is required to undergo a training program to learn how to recognize and report incidents of child abuse or endangerment.

This week, in a forum after church, we’ll have an opportunity to consider ways that we can further ensure everyone’s physical safety at church.

Kilee Keplinger, one of the Officers from the Toledo Police Department who helps to provide security every Sunday morning, will be speaking with us about best practices in the event of a need to evacuate the building suddenly.

Joe Wood from the Lucas County Health Department will be with us again to offer NARCAN training.

Finally, our own Megan Simmons, a Registered Nurse, will be with us to train us on where to find and how to use the AED machine that we have at church.

I hope you’ll be able to join us. Grab some snacks, and then settle in. We want Trinity to continue to stand as a beacon of hope in our community, offering a refuge of safety for everyone.

Blessings,
Jon+

MITTEN TREE

Before you leave for church each week

Remember the words we heard Jesus speak

Breakfast at Trinity feeds the flocks

Now let’s help with gloves and socks.

Our Living Room tree is empty and bare

Why don’t we fill it with things we can share?

Like hats and scarves to keep out the cold

So breakfast friends have warmth to hold.

Bring in your new and clean gently worn

Things that bring warmth with a tree we adorn

Let’s keep the tree up as long as we dare

With weekly donations to show that we care.

Just one small way to spread some cheer

For those whose days may not be so dear.

It’s just a hat, a scarf, a glove

But mostly it’s about sharing love.

CENTERING PRAYER WORKSHOP

Centering Prayer is a contemplative practice that restores and grounds us in ways that most of us deeply need in our overly busy, anxious world. The practice is a spiritual antidote that opens us to the calm and revitalization of resting in God. Like all meditative practices, it affects us not only during the practice, but in our daily lives, leading to personal transformation. Join St. Michael’s in the Hills of Ottawa Hills for a practical introductory workshop on Saturday, January 10, 2026 from 3-4:30 p.m. The workshop will be led by John Fousek and Pat Mills, instructors trained through Contemplative Outreach, Ltd., the organization founded by Father Thomas Keating, a principal developers of Centering Prayer. To register: e-mail Kim at St. Michael’s office@lovelearnserve.com or call: (419) 531-1616

TRINITY'S PRAYER LIST

Trinity continues to have an active prayer list. If you’d like prayers for yourself or for someone you know, you can request them by contacting the Trinity office (trinity@trinitytoledo.org or 419-243-1231). All prayer requests are shared only with a small intercessory prayer group who, along with parish clergy, offer recurring prayers for each request. When a request is received, it remains on the prayer list for four weeks before it’s taken off. Requests can always be renewed or submitted again; having an “expiration date” simply prevents the list from overflowing with prayer requests that are out of date.

TRINITY@HOME LIVE-STREAM
